2010 Inaugural Season

Our inaugural production of The Tempest was a tremendous success thanks to the generosity of so many donors and volunteers. If you didn't get to see the show, or even if you did see it, you can view our slide show for some fantastic photographs of the production.

We also want to share some of the comments made by reviewers and individuals alike about the magic of The Tempest:

"Words can't really encompass what an amazing accomplishment this Festival has been. What a great gift to bring to everyone. And what an auspicious beginning! "   - Freeport Resident

"Congrats on the success of Shakespeare in the Park!...Thanks for all of your hard work at bringing something new and unique to the park.  I hope this is the start of a wonderful new summer tradition for L.L.Bean." - Freeport Resident - L.L.Bean employee

"While vacationing in Maine last week (I’m a native Mainer, although I have lived in Ohio for some time now), I happened to be shopping in Freeport with my family one evening and was able to catch a bit of THE TEMPEST.   There was a large crowd and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves -- It reminded me of the two summers I spent performing Shakespeare outdoors all over Montana many years ago!  Kudos to all who made this possible; I hope to get there to see an entire show next year."   -Ohio Resident

"Dear Freeport Festival People,

Wow!  A truly auspicious festival beginning!  It was a memorable evening with all aspects of your production just excellent.  I will not go down th elist of performers (actors, musicians, puppets, staff, etc.)...

We will look forward to next year."  -Brunswick, Maine Resident

"Congratulations!  A wonderful performance Friday night and to think we were sitting in the headquarters and campus of L.L. Bean.  You and your group have done a great thing for Maine, Cumberland County and the Town of Freeport.  We all congratulate you and staff for venturing into the unknown, very similar to what Lewis Kaplan did with the Bowdoin International Music program.  I see this program becoming a reason to come to Freeport for "Shakespeare Week"

Thank you for coming to our community and thank you also for the wonderful seats Friday night"  -Freeport Resident

"All: Thank you so much for all your efforts to bring Shakespeare to Freeport. The production of the Tempest was perfect in every way.

Am looking forward to seeing Twelfth Night next summer. Thanks again"  - Florida Resident
