Our 2011 season main stage production of Twelfth Night was directed by Dennis McLernon. Dennis, who recently was named Artistic Associate for the Freeport Shakespeare Festival, returned this year after his appearance last summer as Prospero in The Tempest.

Twelfth Night is one of Shakespeare's golden comedies with memorable characters, separated siblings, mistaken identies and plenty of music and song.

On the Freeport Factory Stage, our second festival show was Before Bill: A comedic romp through medieval times. This hilarious, fast-paced farce featuring a troupe of four actors and their put-upon actor/manager were directed by Andrew Harris, former Executive Director of L/A Arts and a Portland Stage Company Affiliate Artist. Andrew brought a unique blend of English charm and humor to this project and it was an outrageous success!

Our education program, Shakespeare's Kids presented five performances of A Midsummer Night's Dream. Thanks to RBC Wealth Management and the RBC Foundation for underwriting this year's production.

Also on the Factory Stage, FSF will produce Shakespeare's timeless tragedy, Macbeth, from October 13th through 31st. The production will be directed by our own Shakespeare's Kids teaching artist, Lon Church and will feature the talents of many professional local actors and a terrific design and tech staff. Details will be available in late August.

Finally, we can't tell you everything, but stay tuned to learn more about our fantastic Holiday show - it's big...really big! Hint: it's a play about shopping, and what better place to enjoy it than right here in downtown Freeport? We have already signed on one of your favorite local actors in the leading role - a character that needs no introduction anywhere in the world! Curious? We hope so. Keep checking back for more news about this holiday miracle as we get closer to the fall.
