Auditions

Auditions for our summer production of THE TEMPEST will be held on Friday, March 12, 2010 from 6:00 pm to 10:00 p.m and Saturday, March 13, 2010 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Freeport Performing Arts Center, 30 Holbrook Street, Freeport.

Equity and Non-Equity actors are sought for all roles with the exception of Prospero, which has been cast. Actors should prepare a two-minute monologue from The Tempest for the character that most closely suits your type. Please do not prepare a Prospero monologue.

Those auditioning for Ariel and Stephano should also prepare a brief acapella song (For Ariel preferably a church hymn and NOT a contemporary show tune; for Stephano a bawdy or drinking song)

Ariel – An airy spirit who serves Prospero. Demanding physical role, must sing well.
Miranda – 15 year old daughter of Prospero
Caliban – An island native – enslaved to Prospero
Alonso – The King of Naples
Ferdinand – The son of Alonso
Gonzalo – An honest old counselor
Antonio – The usurping Duke of Milan, Prospero’s brother
Sebastian – The brother of Alonso
Stephano – Butler to Alonso, strong singer preferred
Trinculo – A jester
Master of a ship
Boatswain of a ship
Three Spirits: Iris – a messenger for the goddess Juno; Juno- a godess; Ceres -Juno’s sister, a goddess

There will be some doubling of roles.
