SHAKESPEARE'S KIDS PROGRAM!

This summer Shakespeare's Kids will present A Midsummer Night's Dream on the L.L.Bean Discovery Park Stage from August 9-11. The matinee performances will begin at 4:00 p.m., and will feature our own troupe of kids performing a 60 minute version of this popular comedy. This production is suitable for families and children of all ages and, as always, performances are FREE to the public. In addition, we have been invited by the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens to bring our Shakespeare's Kids production to celebrate the Maine Fairy House Festival at the Gardens on August 6 and 7, 2011. Additional information will be listed here. In the meantime, find out more about our Shakespeare's Kids program by clicking here!

Shakespeare at the REAL School

Freeport Shakespeare Festival is pleased to be working with the REAL School on Mackworth Island in Falmouth to offer six weeks of classes in Shakespeare each term. The sessions are led by actor/educator Susan Garrett. For students who would not otherwise have the opportunity to be exposed to his works, this program makes Shakespeare REAL.

Highlights from our 2010 Education and Outreach Programs include:

Trailblazers

FSF teamed up with Freeport Recreation and Community Education Port-teen project to offer a three-week workshop on Shakespeare - students worked on acting, speaking and movement - plus pirate costumes!

Internships

Our 2010 intern company consisted of five local high school students who worked in stage management, directing, acting, lighting and sound. Our 2011 intern application is now available. Please click on the auditions and employment tab above to download internship application materials.

The Arts Community

FSF collaborated with Figures of Speech Theater and the Greater Freeport Community Chours to bring The Tempest to life.
