Internship Information
In the summer of 2010, Shakespeare is coming to Freeport, Maine! LL Bean Discovery Park will be the site of the first annual Freeport Shakespeare Festival. Students who will be 16 and over by May, 2010 can apply for a position with the FSF Intern Company. An intern with the Freeport Shakespeare Festival can expect to work in a professional atmosphere in a specific area of expertise. Those students who wish to explore a possible acting career will also have the opportunity to audition for the company’s main stage production. Several members of the intern company will play small or medium sized roles in the production.

An internship with Freeport Shakespeare Festival will give you an opportunity to work in a professional theater environment, with skilled theatre artists of all kinds. Interns will gain hands- on experience in one or more of the following fields: Scenery, Electrics, Sound, Costumes, Props, Stage Management, Theatre Administration and Dramaturgy/Directing. For those interested in acting, interns will be assigned specific production or administrative tasks in addition to their acting roles.

Interns will work approximately 10-15 hours per week for six weeks beginning in early June, 2010. Acting interns can expect to put in substantially longer hours than technical interns, but under no circumstances will interns work more than 28 hours per week.

The benefits to becoming an intern include a cash stipend, first-hand experience in a professional theatre, school credit or community service credit for the hours worked.
